The contact lens business was very much due a shake up! And Waldo did just that by offering daily contact lenses at much cheaper price than most high street opticians. You can even get a free trial so you can try before you buy. In this article we are looking into what Waldo offers.
Waldo are a company that sell subscriptions for daily contact lenses. They offer monthly, quarterly and bi-annual subscription services for your contacts. Unfortunately you can’t buy them on a one-off, you have to get a rolling subscription. Considering there are subscription boxes for everything nowadays (earlier we wrote about food subscription boxes), one for your eyes seems perfectly normal.
Your contacts arrive in a slick, blue box that fits through your letterbox (ideal!). The box is fully recyclable. Every box comes with 30 daily contact lenses, so for one month you would order two boxes. At the moment the lens packaging itself is not recyclable.
Waldo ask you to upload a picture of your prescription before ordering your first lenses, to make sure you are getting the right contacts.
You can get your free trial by going to the Waldo website and ordering your first batch of contacts. The free trial is for 10 days’ worth of contacts. You will have to pay the delivery charge of £2.95. Note that you do get enrolled into the Waldo subscription service when you sign up for the free trail. You can cancel, but only 3 days after placing your order and you will have to call customer services. If you don’t cancel within 9 days, you get charged for your next set of contacts, so you only have 6 days to cancel if you wish do to so.
At the moment Waldo have two types of contact lenses: the ‘original’ lenses and ‘vitamin’ lenses, which are meant to relax your eyes and be ultra-comfortable. The original contacts come at a price of £12 a month and the vitamin lenses are £16 a month – delivery is free on both.
You can sign up to a monthly, quarterly and bi-annual subscription to receive your contacts as often as you wish. If you sign up for the quarterly or bi-annual plans, you save money on your lenses. In your online account you can amend the frequency or renewal date of your contact lens delivery, so you can wait if you are not quite ready for a new batch yet.
Waldo lenses are considerable cheaper than most high street opticians. The quality is generally reviewed as very good and a lot of customers rate the lenses as very comfortable. Although daily lenses are not very good for the environment due to the waste, considering you don’t need any separate contact lens fluid and lens holders this might be a better option. Why not try it for yourself with the free trial!
