Us money-savers love a loyalty card! Saving points with every purchase you make, to use as credit towards future purchases or use on member offers. Savvy money-savers have a loyalty card they shop at.
Whether you love spending your salary on make up or have a big family to buy toiletries for, a drugstore loyalty card is a good one to have in your wallet. Boots and Superdrug, the two biggest health and beauty retailers in the UK, both have loyalty cards. But which one offers the best value? Let’s have a look.
Let’s cut to the chase, the Boots Advantage card offer of 4 points per £1 spent on most items is one of the best returns on a loyalty card. So if you are simply after earning points and nothing else, this is probably the best shop to spend your money.
The bonus points and discount coupons with your Boots Advantage card are very good value.
Additionally to the Advantage card, Boots has:
A downside of the Boots Advantage card is that you can’t part pay for items using your points and your personalised offers are only valid in store (not online).
The Superdrug card launched in 2011 and instantly became a rival of the Boots loyalty card. In many ways both programs work the same.
With the Superdrug Health & Beautycard you receive points for your purchases. You only collect 100 points for every £1 spend, so the pay out is a bit lower. With Superdrug you can part pay for items (in multiples of 100), which is helpful if you want to save smaller amounts more frequently.
The Superdrug Health & Beautycard also offers special member offers and bonus points (also online!), as well as weekly and birthday treats. The best way to keep up to date on this is to download their app. This also has a QR code for your loyalty card that can be scanned in store. This means you don’t have to carry your physical card around!
The physical Superdrug card has a slick design though, with part of the front being a mirror. Fantastic marketing from a beauty store, because you can check your mascara or lipstick on their loyalty card!
A note on the Superdrug loyalty membership is that you have to use your card within 12 months. If do not do so, your account will be automatically close and points expire. Keep shopping!
