What is Audible?

Audible is a part of the big company Amazon. Audible specialise in – surprise surprise - audiobooks! The subscription model allows customers to download one or more audiobooks a month, in any genre that they like. Psychology, fiction, children’s stories and a lot more.

Audible works with credits. When you sign up for your free trial, you get one credit to spend on any book you like. If you keep your membership, you get one credit a month to use. You can upgrade your membership to receive 2 credits a month. Although you can buy individual books from Audible, they very much push their subscription service – which is also better value if you listen to one or more audiobooks per month.

Is the trial really free?

Yes! But just like the Amazon free trial which we wrote about earlier, you need to cancel before the membership renews and charges you. If you want to sign up to a free Audible trial, you can do so here. What you will receive is:

  • A 30-day trial to Audible plus your first audiobook for free
  • Swap any book you don't love with their easy exchange policy
  • Free, unlimited access to Audio Shows
  • 1 credit a month after your trial at £7.99 a month

If you are into audiobooks and listen to one or more per month, the membership is very good value. If you are an avid listener and need more credits, we recommend upgrading your membership as buying individual books is more expensive.
